Lona 5
Lona5 is the fifth generation of Lona software, developed for the design and manufacturing of eyewear fronts. Lona5 allows you to design and machine a front using our 5-axis machines, the MP5, a semi-automatic machine dedicated to opticians and eyewear manufacturers for small production runs, as well as the MF5, a fully automatic machine dedicated to manufacturers. Lona5 stands out for its “downstream design” mode, a MicroUnit exclusive. This means that the designer simply “sculpts” their eyewear in volume instead of drawing it. The powerful algorithms developed for Lona5—two PhDs in mathematics worked on the project—enable the designer to bring to life the shapes imagined by the designer, including the most elaborate forms.
The main developments of Lona5 compared to Lona 4 are:
- Converting a surface model to Mesh (triangles). This made it possible to remove display artifacts from the intersection of quasi-parallel surfaces.
Delete programming: no programming required, the machine program is created with a single click.
Make design and manufacturing more accessible to novices
Add realistic simulation mode
Machining programs for tulips and templates produced automatically
